Six Sentence Sunday

Hello all, this is my second six sentence Sunday. And I think I chose something a bit romantic from my "Catch of the Day" story. It is my favorite story that I have written so far. Jaran is a merman who falls for a human.  If you'd like to catch him for yourself, please click on the book cover at the left for ordering info.    And if you'd like to see what other writers have done for Six Sentence Sun please click on the highlighted words (Six Sentence Sun) at the top of my post.

“Of this, of whatever it is we have going on between us. I think I’m starting to fall for you, Jaran, and it scares me.”
Jaran took Kellan’s hand and held it, his thumb rubbing the warm skin. “You are?” His blue eyes gazed into uncertain brown ones.
“I know we haven’t known each other that long, but I felt something for you when I saw you thrashing about in my tub.”

Putting out Fires

Tom put out plenty of fires during his career as a firefighter.  No matter how many times he’d thought he saw it all there was always something that came along that stood out.

Just like the fire he and his fellow firefighters were currently battling at the local high school.   It started in the auditorium and spread to a storage room next to it.

Thankfully the kids were on summer vacation when it broke out.

Tom was the leader and he held onto the nozzle as the water sprayed on the roaring blaze.

“Tom over there,” Rich, his wingman who stood behind him, pointed to a stubborn flame consuming part of the stage curtains.  They spoke to each other through the communication system they had in their helmets.

“What started it?”  Tom asked after the last of the fire was finally extinguished.   He could tell it wasn’t an accident.

“Look.”  Rich and Pete looked at the rubble and spotted the remains of a pentagram written on the stage floor and several candles strewn around it.

“Is this some kind of cult thing?”  Tom asked.  He heard about some teen gangs in the area stirring up some trouble but he hoped it wouldn’t get as far as setting fires.

“Looks like it.”  Pete said.   Tom knew Pete for a long time, they’d gone through training together and if he wasn’t deeply in love and committed to Ben he’d probably be all over him like white on rice. Pete had a knack for knowing when a fire had been set or was an accident.    Tom had suggested to him on numerous occasions that he should go into the arson squad.

“Let’s leave this to arson guys and get our gear stored.”   Captain Harmon told his crew.  They’d worked together for several years and everyone respected their captain.

The men all did as told and they all filed into the fire truck and went back to the station.

                                                                          ****

There was nothing like getting home after a hard day working at the firehouse.   Tom had images of Ben running through his head, things he wanted to do to his partner when he got home.   Tom got some ribbing from Rich about having a male better half.  They all knew he was gay at work and no one at the station had a problem with it.

“Hey Ben? Ben!”  Tom bellowed as he came through the door.  He’d been waiting all damn day to get his hands on his man and he refused to be kept waiting one minute longer.

“What the hell are you shouting for?”   Tom heard Ben’s reply coming from upstairs.  He was upstairs in their bedroom; Tom’s cock twitched when he thought about the time Ben surprised him by greeting him naked at the door one evening.   He wondered what surprises Ben might have in store for him tonight.

“I’m coming to get you sweet cheeks.”  Tom quickly crept up the stairs, each step bringing him closer to the man he wanted to make wild, passionate love to.  “What the?”    Tom brought himself to a halt at the sight that met him in their bedroom.

“Hi, Tom.”   Ben was lying in bed with the covered pulled up to his chest and he held a thermometer he’d taken out of his mouth in his right hand.

“What’s wrong, Ben, are you sick?”   Tom knew that was such a dumb question since the man was in bed and he looked sick.

“Yeah, I started feeling it coming on this afternoon so I came home from work early.  I have a slight fever and I feel achy.”

“You poor baby,” Tom sat down next to Ben and kissed his forehead.  His lover felt warm and he could tell from the hazy look in Ben’s eyes that he wasn’t feeling well.   “Can I get you anything?”

“There is a brown bottle I left on the kitchen counter, can you please get it for me?”

Tom went downstairs and spotted the bottle sitting next to the tea kettle on the counter. He read the simple looking label that said  ‘cold elixir’ on it.  “I don’t remember seeing this before, what is it?”

“One of my co-workers does herbal medicine on the side.  She saw how sick I was and put this together for me and dropped it off a little while ago.”

“I didn’t know you believed in that mumbo jumbo stuff.”

Tom could tell by the look on Ben’s face he was not amused by his description of the potion he held in his hand.

“It’s NOT mumbo jumbo, it’s alternative medicine.   And it works a hell of a lot better than that crap you bring home from the drug store. “

Tom knew better than to argue with his partner, especially when he was sick.  He’d brought a teaspoon with him and gave it to Ben.   He watched his man open the cap and took two teaspoons of the amber liquid.

“Ugh, can you get me a glass of water please.”  Ben had a sour lemon look on his face and Tom quickly grabbed a glass that Ben had on his nightstand, and filled it with water.

“I hope that stuff helps you baby.   But how about I make you something for dinner.”

“Not hungry.”  Ben groused at him.

“I’m going to give you some of my own medicine.”

“Said not hungry.”  Ben turned over onto his side facing away from Tom.

“How about chicken soup?”  Tom cautiously asked.

“I said I’m not hungry.”

“But, baby, it’s the Jewish Penicillin, you can’t argue with centuries of Jewish know-how.  Besides it’s my grandmother’s recipe. “ He leaned over and kissed Ben’s cheek and whispered in his ear. “I’ll call Bubbe and you can argue with her about not eating the soup.”

“Okay, okay, I’ll eat.  I don’t want to face the wrath of Bubbe.”   That got Ben laughing, which is what Tom hoped he’d do.

Ben loved Tom’s family and the first time his grandmother had laid eyes on Ben she welcomed him into their family.    She’d told Tom what a good catch he’d gotten.

“What’s this?”  Ben asked when he spotted a flyer sticking out of the back pocket of Tom’s jeans.

“Oh, it’s an ad for the fireman’s bbq they plan to have at the end of the month, I was going to ask you if you wanted to go with me until I found out you were sick as a dog.”

“Well I’m not that sick.”  Ben slid the flyer out of Tom’s pocket and opened it up.  It said there was going to be some games including a dunk tank.  “Dunk tank huh?”   Ben wiggled his eyebrows excitedly.

“Don’t even go there.”

“But Tom, you know I was a great softball pitcher in high school.  I like to practice my pitch.”

“Ben.”  Tom shook his head.   He was glad he got Ben’s mind off being sick.

“It’s for charity, Tom, we all have to make sacrifices, especially you.”   Ben grabbed Tom’s right hand and kissed the top of it.  “Now go make me Bubbe’s chicken soup.”  Ben feigned some coughs for good measure.

“Okay, baby.  Love you.”

“Love you too, Tom.”    Tom had a warm feeling inside as he descended the stairs.   Nothing felt better than to be with the one you loved the most in the whole world.

Six Sentence Sunday

Hello everyone,

I just started doing this, last Sunday I forgot.  The way Six Sentence Sunday works is I pick out six sentences from one of my stories and post it here.   Just as a sort of teaser.

I chose my current release. "Somebody to Love"

Sam fell onto the carpeted floor and Matt fell on top of him.
“Ha, ha,” Sam laughed.  The two men were breathing hard from the exertion. Both stopped moving
suddenly and gazed deeply into each other’s eyes. Sam tentatively reached out to touch
Matt’s face, like he was studying it, then moved his hand to the back of Matt’s head and pulled
him down for a kiss. Matt showed Sam he was more than interested by wrapping his arms around Sam’s neck
and deepening the kiss.

Here is a synopsis of my book

Somebody to Love-by Lily Sawyer

http://www.secretcravingspublishing.com/LilySawyer.html

Blurb:

Sam Warner is busy working in his flower shop creating beautiful arrangements
to celebrate all the happy moments in his customer's lives. He only wished he
had something joyful to celebrate.

He was in a relationship until the day he came home to an empty apartment
and a 'Dear John' letter. Hurt and alone he decides he doesn't want to be in
another relationship ever again. But fate has stepped in and he meets Matt
Doyle, the bartender at a local bar.

Can Sam give love a second chance?

Excerpt:

The Corner Pub was crowded for a Thursday night and several large TV sets were tuned to baseball games. Sam Warner loved baseball. He decided to take a break from his flower store up the street and wandered in. Settling into one of the comfortable seats to watch the game, he couldn’t help notice a dark haired man tending bar. He wore a black t-shirt with the bar’s name emblazoned onto the front. He must be a new guy because Sam didn’t remember seeing him before.

One of the other patrons sidled up to the bar and asked, “Hey, Matt, give me another beer, will you?”

Matt, so that’s his name, Sam thought not able to keep his eyes off him. Something about him made Sam want to go over and say hello. He needed a refill, and seeing that as an opportunity to speak with him, he got up and wandered slowly over to the bar.

“Come on, hit a home run!” A burly guy was screaming at the screen jumped up just as Sam arrived at the bar, and his beer landed all over the front of Sam’s green polo shirt.

“Oh my God, I’m so sorry.” The man grabbed some napkins and dabbed the beer. “Let me buy you a drink.”

“It’s okay.” Sam smiled reassuringly, and the guy disappeared back into the crowd. He looked over at the bartender. He could tell Matt was trying to hide an amused smile as he offered him a roll of paper towels.

“Here, use some club soda.” He handed Sam a glass filled with the bubbly drink.
After getting most of the stain out, Sam put the wad of paper towels on the bar counter.
The bartender threw them into the trash, leaned over and said, “I’m Matt Doyle,” and held out his hand.

Sam accepted and looked down at their clasped hands, his blond hair falling down, partially covering his eyes. Sam’s brown eyes looked back up into Matt’s blue ones.
“Mine’s Sam Warner.” He managed to get out without embarrassing himself. He could feel his palms sweat. Something about being near Matt made him nervous.

“Pleased to meet you Sam,” Matt took a glass and poured some beer from the tap and placed it on the counter in front of him.

Sam looked up and smiled. “You must be new. I’ve never seen you before.”

Something was going on between them, and Sam hoped it wasn’t wishful thinking. Not that long ago he’d been in a serious four-year relationship that had ended badly. Ever since then he’d been reluctant to date again.

“Yeah, I just started a week ago. I used to work at Daffy’s over on Second Street.”
“I’ve never been there.”

“You’re not missing much. The drinks are watered down, and the pay was lousy.” Matt restocked the shelves behind the counter. “So you’re a baseball fan?”

“Oh, yeah been a fan ever since my dad took me to a game when I was seven years old.” He didn’t know why he was telling this man his life story. Maybe what they said about bartenders being like your father confessor was true. Matt certainly was not only easy to talk to, he was easy on the eyes as well.

“Who do you like?”

“Don’t laugh but I like the Mets.”

“Those guys? So you like routing for the underdog.” Matt chuckled.

“Hey, what can I say? My dad got me hooked on them, couldn’t stop telling me enough about when they’d won the World Series.” Sam gazed at Matt over the rim of his glass.

“I’m not knocking it. I think rooting for the underdog is admirable.” Matt’s smile lit up the room, and it made Sam’s heart skip a few beats.

“Really?” Sam asked shyly.

Matt smiled back. “Sure is.”

Sam noticed how late it was. He decided not to stay to watch the end of the game. He needed a good night’s sleep to start filling more flower orders in the morning. “Well, I better get going.”

“So soon?” Matt sounded disappointed. “It was nice meeting you, Sam.”

“Same here.” He turned around and walked toward the door but stopped when he heard Matt’s voice.

“Hey, there’s a game here on Sunday afternoon. Think you can make it?” Matt told him.

“Nah, I’m busy, but maybe sometime next week?” Sam was reluctant to tell Matt he was a florist. He didn’t want Matt to think he was less of a man because of his choice of jobs.

“I’ll catch you another time.” Matt said .

“I’ll be back,” Sam walked back to the bar and leaned in close to Matt and met the blue eyes with his own. “Count on it.”

“Night, Sam.”

Sam felt Matt’s eyes on him as he left. He left the bar feeling better than when he’d gone in. He wasn’t sure if this was going to turn into anything, but he wasn’t going to close the door on that possibility.

Flash 25-Garden of Earthly Delights

It's that time of the week again. (I know I'm a day early but I'm not sure what will happen on Weds so I wanted to make sure this was posted)  Silver Flash time.   Here is my story,  the links to the other participants appear at the bottom of my story.   Welcome to two newbies,  Chris Quinton and West Thornhill

Prompts: "mischief managed" and/or the use of dark chocolate   or
These three words in your story:  church, star, phone

“The Garden of Earthly Delights”

There was nothing Ben loved more than being in the country.   Having grown up in a large city like Miami for most of his life, Lancaster Pennsylvania was like a breath of fresh air.

Ben loved watching the wild life and there was plenty of it right in their own backyard.  One of the first things he bought when he moved here was a good pair of binoculars.   He discovered he loved bird watching, as well as watching the deer feeding in the woods behind their home.    But right now he couldn’t keep his eyes off the wild firefighter who was washing his car.    Tom wore a tank top and a pair of tight-fitting shorts that made Ben’s cock twitch.    The vibration in the pocket of his shorts had nothing to do with what the man in front of him was doing to his body; he reached in and pulled out his phone.

“Hello?  You’re where?”  Ben was talking to one of the men who were delivering their living room furniture.  “Yes you make a right turn at the church on the corner, we’re about two blocks up on the right-hand side.  Number 227.  Yes, Thanks.”   He clicked the phone shut and put it on the table next to him.  He loved sitting out on the veranda in front of their home.   Especially in the summertime, there was a pitcher of iced tea that Tom had made before he started washing his car.    Ben watched as Tom dried his ‘baby’ off.   The sight of those hands rubbing against the metal body of the car reminded him of what those same hands did to his body after their shower last night.

Ben felt how crowded it was getting in his shorts and stood up, he gave Tom a slap on his bubble butt.

“Ow! What was that for?”  The tall handsome blond firefighter asked him.

“That’s for doing this,” he pointed at the bulge in his crotch. “To me.”

“Gee I’m awfully sorry.”  Tom answered with a wicked smile before leaning down to kiss Ben.

“Well you are SO going to make it up to me later.”

“Later? Why not right now?”   Tom wrapped his arms around Ben and rubbed his groin against Ben’s.

“Because, sweetheart, we’re about to have an audience.  The furniture people are on their way.  They should be here any minute and I don’t want to give them a show.”

“How come?  We can tell them it’s their tip.”  Tom’s eyebrows wiggled suggestively.

“Come on stud, let’s clean up this mess and get ready for some new furniture.”  Ben was glad he and Tom had arranged for the Salvation Army to pick up their old stuff yesterday.   It felt weird to have the living room so empty.   They had decided it was time to have new furniture, something that they picked out together for ‘their’ home.

About five minutes later the truck pulled up in front of their home and the two workers wasted no time in moving their love seat, couch and coffee table into their new home.    Normally both men might have taken notice of the two movers but there really wasn’t anything about them that caught their eye, besides Ben only had eyes for Tom and visa versa.  Although Ben had to admit he did look every once in a while, but there was no other man that could compare to his firefighter and he was very happy with what he had at home.

“Ah!”  No sooner than the delivery men left than Tom descended into the cushy couch cushions like a diver into the depths of the sea.  “So comfy, join me?”  Tom’s outstretched arms and come-hither look in those blue eyes made it hard to resist the power he had over Ben.  Not that he wanted to resist.   Ben lay next to his man, felt the powerful arms come around him and, together, they decided to give the couch a test drive.

“You’re right it’s real comfy.”  Ben kissed Tom’s lips; he rested his head on the strong shoulders.

Their bodies molded together, Ben rubbed his groin against Toms equally aroused member.    “Yeah, baby, let’s initiate this couch.”    Ben pulled off Tom’s shorts and threw it onto the wooden floor; it wasn’t long before his joined its mate.

“Tom, mm.”  Ben felt Tom’s fingers comb through the hair on the back of his head and pull him in for a kiss.  Their tongues seeking a home in the other’s mouth, their cocks leaking from the tips.   Tom reached his big hand and wrapped it around their stiff members and began stroking them.

“Oh Tom, TOM!”   Ben shouted as he came all over Tom’s hand, the firefighter’s cock ‘suffered’ the same fate as he was shooting like a fire hose, one that was not likely to put out a fire as to continue to flame this one.

“Baby,” Tom kissed his forehead, nose then lips.

“I’d say the couch passed the test, strong enough to handle two big sexy men.”

“Oh yeah.”

That evening, after they had their fill of Tom’s BBQ chicken and potatoes, they sat out in their backyard among the flowers in their garden watching the stars.

“I have a surprise for you.”  He and Tom were sitting side-by-side holding hands and looking up to the Heavens.

“What?”

“Hold on.”  Ben got up and quickly went into the kitchen.   He returned to his lover and sat on his lap.   “Open wide.”  He fed Tom a surprise he’d bought during a shopping trip he’d made into town that morning.

“Mmmm, dark chocolate, my favorite.”

“I know that is why I try to keep some on hand.   Chocolate is an aphrodisiac after all.”

“It is?”  Tom feigned innocence.

“I think so, maybe we should find out.”   Ben wiggled his hips against the growing bulge in Tom’s pants.

“Yeah I think we should.”  Tom grabbed the chocolate bar and they enjoyed doing their research in their garden of Earthly delights.

Flash 24-Carnival Fun

Flash 24 “Okay I paid the twenty bucks, what do the cards say?” and “Somebody’s got to stop him.”

Every July just like clockwork the carnival comes to Lancaster County.   It works out pretty well for those who don’t want to take the drive to Hershey or are in the mood for something different.

Tom loved the carnival, was a real roller coaster fanatic, ever since he was a little boy he loved the rides.  Unfortunately Ben suffered with motion sickness so he couldn’t join in the fun.

Luckily carnivals also had games of chance if there was one person who loved to compete it was Ben and he was serious about it too.

Tom remembered when they were playing scrabble a few days ago, Ben got so annoyed when Tom put a word down and he wasn’t familiar with it.  Tom had to get the dictionary to show him it was a real word.

Ben rolled his eyes and admitted defeat.

Today the men were strolling the fairgrounds.

“Come on Tom, let’s play that game.”  Ben tugged on his sleeve Tom laughed at how this place brought out the little kids in both of them.

They played a few of the games. Tom could see Ben eyeing a huge teddy bear that sat among the other prizes at the toss a ball booth.  The game involved hitting several targets with a tennis ball. After Ben kept missing Tom couldn’t bear to see the disappointed look in his lover’s eyes.

“Here, let me try.”  Tom used to play in little league so he showed that he hadn’t lost his touch by knocking down the target like a pro.

“Go on, Ben, get what you want.”

“I don’t want nothin’” Ben aimlessly scuffed the toe of his sneaker on the ground.

“Come on, baby, I know how badly you want the bear.”  Tom whispered in Ben’s ear.

“Stop it,” he laughed and playfully sho9ved at Tom.

“So,” the bored teenager cracked his gum at them,  “You want the bear or not?”   He held the bear in his hands.

Ben snatched the stuffed animal and held it against his chest and trudged off.

“Thanks,” Tom told the kid and followed his partner down the fairway.

“Come on, let’s go inside.”  Tom spotted a fortune-teller’s booth and pulled Ben reluctantly inside.

The tent had a table in the middle of the room and sitting on top was a crystal ball.  A light fixture with red tassels hung above the table.

“Hello, I’m Sylvia,” said the dark-haired old woman.  “Would you like to let the cards tell your fortune?”  She had a deck of tarot cards sitting in front of her.

“Tom, why did you drag me in here?” Ben started to get up.

“Hold on, let’s just see what she has to say.”  Tom always wanted to have his fortune told.

Ben was a softy when it came to Tom so he indulged him and sat back down in the chair.

“What’s our fortune say?” Ben asked.

“First you must cross my palm.”  She indicated the sign that listed the cost of a tarot reading.

Ben slapped a bill on the table.  “Okay, I paid the twenty bucks, what do the cards say?”

                                                                        ****
“You don’t really believe what she said do you?” Ben asked Tom as they lay in bed not sleeping.

“No, I don’t believe in that crap, I’m sorry I ever suggested going to a fortune teller.  We’re going to have long, happy lives together forever, Ben. “

They wrapped their arms around each other.  They both tried very hard to forget what the fortune-teller told them.

End?

Silver Flash story: Good Neighbors

Well it's that time of the week again.  Time to Flash.   the links to my fellow flashers appear at the end of my story

Prompts: "It’s always the quiet ones" and "I'd walk across ________ for you."

 The Good Neighbor

Ben and Tom lived in a nice small development sitting in the middle of bucolic Lancaster County PA.

There were about twenty-four houses lining their street. The neighbors were friendly and now that the summer was here everyone spent more time outside mowing the lawn, washing their cars and BBQing   Tom had been dubbed the ‘grill master’ since he seemed to live for grilling.  Ben was only too happy to watch his man do the thing he seemed to love most.   The neighborhood came alive during the summer, Memorial day and 4th of July and not to mention all the block parties.   The neighbors all got together and decided on who was going to do what food wise.  Tom was still the man of the grill.   He relished in it.

Ben noticed there was one neighbor that was barely seen. Scott McKinley, he was a nice enough guy. Said hello when you saw him, but he pretty much kept to himself.

Tom and Ben always invited him to their parties, but he’d politely refused.

“He’s a loner,” Tom told Ben while they were planning another BBQ for that evening.

“Or lonely,” Ben pointed out.  “Think about it, we never see anyone come to visit and we barely see him. Maybe he’s shy and just needs someone to encourage him.”

“Ben did you ever think that maybe he wants to be alone?”

“Just doesn’t seem natural.  I’m going over there and invite him again.”

“I think you’re making a mistake, Ben.”  Tom warned him.

Ben got to the door, turned around and said “Well, are you coming with me or not?”

Tom rolled his eyes and joined his partner on, what he thought, was a lost cause.

When they got to their mysterious neighbor’s front door.  Ben seemed to get cold fest.

“Are you going to knock?” Tom asked Ben.

“Maybe you’re right, maybe this isn’t a good idea.”

“Oh for crying out loud.” Tom pulled back on the door knocker and tapped on the red wooden door.”

It took a few moments before they heard an “I’ll be right there Andy.”  Coming from behind the door.

The two men stood on the porch for a few minutes and were suddenly jolted to attention when the door finally opened.  Their mouths dropped open and their eyes bugged out.

“Scott?”  Ben was the first one to find his voice.  He couldn’t believe the vision standing before him, instead of the mild-mannered shy man they’d come to know. Scott was dressed head to toe like a drag queen.

Scott stood there mortified, he tried to shut the door, but Tom wouldn’t let him.

“Oh my gawd.”  Scott turned and ran towards the back of the house; Ben and Tom were hot on his heels.

“It’s okay, Scott.”  Ben tried to soothe the quivering man, who was standing in his living room.

Tom and Ben managed to get him to calm down and they all sat on the couch.

“I didn’t want anyone to know.”  Scott pushed back the long blonde wig and threw it onto the coffee table.

“You like to dress in drag?” Ben asked.

“Sometimes, I mainly do it for my job at the Cooky club.”

Ben and Tom gave him the deer in the headlights look.

“It’s a gay club in downtown Lancaster.  It’s pretty down low. There’s no sign outside, but all the ‘crowds’ know about it.”  Scott flexed his index and middle fingers at the word crowds to emphasize what kind of crowd he was talking about.

“So you’re a drag queen?” Tom said as he shook his head.  “Who’d have thunk it.”

“You can’t tell anyone, please!”  Scott implored them.

“Easy, Scott. We won’t tell anyone. It’s no one’s business how you make your living or how you choose to dress.  We certainly don’t care.”

“Really?”

“You’re talking to two proud and out gays.”  Ben said.

“Damn straight.”   Tom nodded his head then noticed the look Ben and Scott gave him and they all laughed.  “You know what I mean.”

“Why did you guys come over here?”

“We wanted to invite you to our BBQ tonight, but I guess you’re working.” Tom told him.

“Actually it’s my night off. I thought you guys were my date, Andy. He was coming to pick me up.  He asked me to dress like this.”

“Well we won’t keep you, then.” Ben said as he, then Tom, got up from the sofa and stared to walk towards the door.

“Just want you to know you have an open invitation to join our parties anytime you want.  And you can bring a date too.”  Tom told him.

“Thanks, guys, I might take you up on it.”

“You’re welcome, have fun.’ Ben and Tom walked out the door and down the walk back to their house.

“It’s always the quiet ones.”  Tom shook his head.

“I think he looks cute. It’s not many guys who can pull off wearing a dress like Scott can.” Ben mentioned to him.

“Should I be jealous?” Tom pouted as he asked his partner.

“Nope, he’s not my type. I like my man to look like a man.  Handsome and all muscles.” Ben turned to Tom when they’d reached their front door and ran his hands up and down Tom’s muscular bare arms and leaned forward and kissed him.

“Mm, how about you show me what kind of man you like?’ Tom asked seductively.

Ben pulled him inside their house and into their bedroom and the afternoon was spent showing each some major loving.

That night the BBQ was going strong, Tom did the main course and the assorted neighbors each brought their own dishes to the party.  They were shocked to see Scott, sans the drag queen look, and Andy show up.

"I see you decided to come."  Ben said as he greeted Scott and his date.

"I decided to be a good neighbor and leave the prison of my aloneness and join in the fun."

"Well help yourself to some food, make the grillmaster happy."  Ben indicated his man who was busy flipping burgers and hot dogs on the big gas grill they'd moved to the street for the block party.   The other neighbors had contributed to the feast too.   There were fold-out tables set up in the street with tableclothes and assorted food.

They ended the evening with some fireworks and all the couples were kissing in the dark,  the only light were the flashes from the explosions going off overhead.

Six Sentence

Settling into one of the comfortable seats to watch the game, he couldn’t help notice a dark haired man tending bar. He wore a black t-shirt with the bar’s name emblazoned onto the front. He must be a new guy because Sam didn’t remember seeing him before.

Matt, so that’s his name, Sam thought not able to keep his eyes off him. Something about him made Sam want to go over and say hello. He needed a refill, and seeing that as an opportunity to speak with him, he got up and wandered slowly over to the bar.

For those of you on Goodreads,  it's the start of the hot summer days.   Authors have written stories based on photo prompts.   All the stories are free reads.   I have also contributed a story called "Lawn Mower Boys"  which will appear sometime this month.  Each day a couple of stories will be posted on the m/m romance group

Here is a link to that group
