Sorry for being so quiet

Hello to all my followers.  The past couple of months have been very hard on me.  I have not been able to concentrate on writing.  I just moved and started a new job at the same time, to say I have been stressed out would be an understatement.

I am hoping that after some time I will get back to writing.  In the meantime. I am offering this space to any writers who have any books they'd like highlighted.   So stay tuned.

enjoy your summer

“Be good, or be good at it.”
“You’re tripping.”
“Want to check out my mad skills?”
“Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.”
“You need some additional inspiration.”
“Get while the getting’s good.”

I didn't have time to have it edited, so all errors are mine

The Comforts of Home

Weds Brief,

“Explain that one more time, please?” Ben spoke into the phone that was hanging out of his ear.   In the real estate game you lived on your smart phone.  The only time Ben wasn’t glued to his phone was when he was home with his husband, Tom.  They had an agreement, when they were together no work was permitted.   It was easy for Tom, being a firefighter he left his work at the firehouse.

When they were first together, Ben often brought his work home with him.  There was a time when they almost broke up over Ben being absent in their relationship.

“What do you mean the deal fell through?  I thought the bank gave us the green light.”  Ben was arguing with a loan officer over a house that a couple was interested in.   It was a foreclosure and Ben was the liaison between the couple and the bank.   They had gotten a green light to get the house and now they found out that the couple’s bank wouldn’t approve the FHA loan.

“But, yeah, I’ll have to talk to my clients and get back to you.”

Ben hated this part of his job.  Calling up his clients who were already thinking of the house as theirs, and telling them he was going to be shattering their dreams.

“Hello, David? Yeah it’s Ben.   I’ve got some bad news for you. Yeah I heard back from the bank and it looks like you’re being denied the loan.”  Ben could hear the man’s wife crying in the background.  She was seven months pregnant and they were hoping to get settled in a new house before the baby arrived.  It was their first child.   The house was in their preferred neighborhood, Her parents didn’t live too far, and so they’d have help with the baby when they needed it.  The price was right too, and they were lucky it didn’t need too much work.

“I think you should call your bank and see what happened and get back to me.”

Ben knew that they probably wouldn’t get an answer for a while.  It was the end of the day and time for him to get out of the office and back home to his loving mate.

He was greeted by the smell of dinner as soon as he opened the door.  He was so lucky to be married to a man who knew his way around a kitchen.  Tom’s fellow firefighters looked forward to when it was his turn to cook.

“Mmm, what’s cookin’, good lookin’?”   Ben put down his case and wrapped his arms around Tom and they kissed.

“I’m making beef stew with all your favorite vegetables.”

Ben loved Tom’s beef stew; he made it with a slow cooker. It was a one-pot deal, which made clean up easy.
“Have I told you I love you?”  Ben whispered into Tom’s ear as they hugged.

“Yes but you can never say it enough times.”  Tom held him tight then let go so he could take bowls out to serve it on.    He made a salad and they sat at the dinner table.

“How was your day?”  Tom asked him.

“Difficult” he told him about the couple’s problem with the bank.

“Sorry to hear about that.  I hope things work out.”   They ate Tom’s beef stew, dessert consisted of them lying on the couch watching a movie on TV and making out.

“Mmm.  One of the things I look forward to is knowing you’re here to come home to.”  Ben still couldn’t believe how lucky he was to find a man like Tom.

“I feel the same way.    I feel so happy knowing I don’t have to go it alone.”

They fell asleep in each other’s arms.
